My First Fall Reading Picks
There’s something about the first few weeks of fall that makes me want to read something a little magical, a little romantic, and preferably set somewhere I’d like to visit.
So these are the first two books I’m pulling for my fall reading pile. One is a witchy romance set in Scotland, and the other has the kind of magic, romance, and community that I tend to fall for every single time.

Love's a Witch by Tricia O'Malley
This is the first book in Tricia O’Malley’s Scottish Charms series, and honestly, it sounds like exactly the kind of book I want to be reading when the weather finally decides to cooperate with my fall plans.
It’s a cozy fantasy romance about a witch returning to Scotland to break a family curse, where she immediately clashes with a grumpy Scotsman who is determined to protect his magical little town. So we’ve got witches, Scotland, small-town charm, family, magic, and a romance. I mean... obviously I’m going to read this.
A Love Song for Rikki Wild by Tia Williams
This is the other book I’m hoping to get to this month, and I’m especially excited about this one because I tend to love books that mix romance with a strong sense of place, community, and a little bit of magic.
I also really like being intentional about the authors I’m choosing to read. There are plenty of wonderful books by white authors that naturally find their way to the top of every recommendation list, so I want to make sure I’m also seeking out books by authors who don’t always get that same automatic visibility.
This one has been sitting on my radar for a while, and fall feels like the perfect time to finally pick it up.
